This is a scholarly book that offers a highly relevant, new and updated perspective on what it means to teach and learn -or acquire- languages in Early Years. This is a much needed book which can help shift the perspective traditionally taken in this field. That is, shifting from focusing on teaching and, therefore, teachers, to taking on a new view which focuses on the child, their needs and abilities and, ultimately, views them as active agents in their own development. It is clear from the start that the research described here is based on Schwartz’s academic and professional experience. Schwartz’s areas of current research are mainly within the field of bilingual education, with a very clear focus on early bilingual education and bilingual teaching and learning, areas in which she has published several articles and books (Schwartz, 2022; Schwartz & Palviainen, 2021; among others). The Ecological Perspectives in Early Language Education: Parent, Teacher, Peer and Child Agency in Interaction is her latest publication.Resumen
