This study is carried out with children and their mothers and fathers attending to the Erasme Janer Local Family Area, in the Raval district in Barcelona. This setting is an educational service of the city addressed at 0-3-year-old children and their families. The objective of this space is to give support to families as the first educational agents and to promote the children’s development.
The sample selected for our study consisted of four children (three boys and a girl) and their respective mothers and fathers.
We carry out a case study, because this is the method that best suits our expectations as we want to carry out a qualitative longitudinal study and to tackle the situation with all complexity.
We start from direct observations and posterior analysis of recordings. In order to organize observations, the most significant moments in the leisure centre are selected. The analysis is carried out with a system of categories developed from observations carried out and theoretical references consulted.
